KAN HWEE / M.D.

Dr. Hwee completed his Plastic Surgery training at the world renowned Cleveland Clinic Florida. Prior to his Plastic Surgery training, he completed his General Surgery residency at the prestigious Oregon Health and Sciences University where he also completed his medical doctorate degree. Previously he had completed his Masters of Engineering at the distinguished Cornell University, and this unique training background gives him an innovative perspective in his approach to plastic surgical problem solving. The success of his approach is apparent and evidenced by the multitude of awards he received while in training which includes: the2015 John Cassell Best Resident Presentation Award at the Miami Society of Plastic Surgeons Annual Meeting, the Best Resident Paper award granted at the Florida Society of Plastic Surgeons annual meeting in 2013 and the esteemed John Bostwick award which he received at the 2015 Annual Atlanta Breast Surgery Symposium of the Southeastern Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons. He also had invaluable experience in 2012 when he was part of a team of physicians that provided cleft palate and lip surgery to the underserved in Honduras. Dr. Hwee practices reconstructive, aesthetic, and hand surgery.

He is a candidate member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, Southeastern Society of Plastic Surgeons, and Broward County Society of Plastic Surgeons. Dr. Hwee was born in Myanmar but grew up in Portland, Oregon. When time permits, he enjoys travelling with his family, playing his fiddle and a myriad of sports.  a
